As the delayed start to the 2020 racing season continues, Jacob Loomis is the latest to announce his plans, inking a deal to compete in this year’s Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires.
Loomis’ return to the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires will see him join up with multi race-winning team BNRacing, in collaboration with Team Benik.
BNRacing, led by Englishman Bryn Nuttall, has become an established front-running team over the past three seasons with poles, fastest laps, race wins and podiums across all three tiers of the Road to Indy. New for 2020 will be a collaboration with Team Benik, a long-standing leading karting team which will now be able to boast a full karts-to-cars development program.
Loomis will team up with W Series driver Sabré Cook in the 2020 Indy Pro 2000 Championship and is looking forward to getting back to real racing.
“While it’s been a difficult start to the year for everyone, I’m happy to announce that I’ll be back racing this year and I’m really looking forward to working with BNRacing again,” said Loomis. “Bryn has given me a great opportunity and working with someone of that pedigree in this series gives me confidence for when the season finally starts.”
“Jacob is an excellent addition to the team,” commented Nuttall. “Along with Sabre, who has valuable experience working within an F1 team at Renault, they will combine and be able to learn together. I’m looking forward to helping them move up the grid together.”
With the season-opener now starting in July at Road America, extra preparation and testing will commence. As well as two Indy Pro 2000 cars, two seats in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship are available for the full season as well as individual test days, which saw ex-F1 and Indy 500 Champion Juan Pablo Montoya’s son, Sebastian, test in March.
